Wind Mitigation reports. Wind Mitigation inspection

A Wind Mitigation Report identifies structural and architectural features of a building that will help reduce wind damage during a severe weather event such as a hurricane, tropical storm or tornado. Qualified features identified on the report are generally considered credits. More credits equals more wind premium discounts. Most buildings have at least one or more credits.

Some of the Structural & Architectural features will include:

• Buildings constructed after March 1, 2002 that were built to Florida Building Code requirements.
• Roof coverings that meet Florida Building Code requirements.
• Specific nailing or re-nailing of the roof deck materials.
• Opening protection for windows and occupant doors that are Florida approved products.
• Garage doors that meet impact resistant requirements and are Florida approved products.
• Secondary Water Resistance applied under the primary roof covering.
• Specific roof to wall attachments such as metal straps wrapping over the truss.

Any of the above items as well as other potential credits that qualify will be verified and  reported on a OIR-B1-1802 form as well as all required sets of photos. Any applicable permit information will be included with the report. The form is valid for up to 5 years as long as no material changes have been made to the structure.
